Eating and drinking in Liverpool
We’re really enjoyed our first year of eating and drinking tours here in Liverpool. We’ve been blessed to have welcomed visitors from all around the world and shown them our Liverpool and some of our favourite vendors.
Here’s a few of our favourite places that we’ve enjoyed discovering this year.
Kai Bai Bo
Nestled just off Bold street is this small but very popular Korean inspired restaurant. Run by brothers Robin and Chris, Kai Bai Bo serves up some of the city’s most inspirational Asian fusion dishes. Robin spent time in Korea and Japan and together with his chef brother they have created unique takes on Asian dishes. Their bao buns (pictured) are a real hit and worth the visit just for them but there’s lots of other great dishes to enjoy.
Lunya
Whether you’re dining at the Albert Dock branch or popping in to grab a quick bite at the deli counter on Hanover street, the welcome is always a warm one at Lunya. We really love their story of local Spanish food lovers turning their passion into a thriving business. They are doing a special Christmas menu over the festive period. Check it our here and go and say Hola.
Renshaw Street Market
We’ve all had that experience when we’re out with friends. One person fancies Mexican, the other dim sums. Well now we all know where to go. Renshaw street food market has a great group of vendors. Mong Kok dim sum serves authentic dishes straight out of the hustling open kitchen. Their Siu Long Bao dumplings are some of the best in the city. Well worth a visit.
Just over the market you can visit Baja Mexican and indulge in stuffed chillis, freshly made tacos and some delicious churros.
The Blackburne Arms
Bang in the middle of the Georgian quarter on Catharine street sits the Blackburne arms. It has become quite famous in recent years for it’s amazing Sunday roasts but if you turn up on any day you’ll be impressed with the food as well as the selection of drinks. It’s one of those pubs that has managed to keep a local feel to it as well as welcoming visitors from around the world. Landlord Stephen Sinclair was trained under the one and only Marco Pierre White so he knows what he’s doing. Well worth a visit if you’re in that part of the city.
